Home Sweet Home
The Prada season Fall/Winter 2011 is taking place in a house.
Composed as a 2 storey steel structure the house consists of 14 rooms that give place to 700 guests. Whereas the back side of the house is closed, the front side has openings from floor to ceiling. The partitioning walls have openings to create a defined yet continuous interior space. A Milanese style balustrade fences the upper and lower level, as well as the spatial stairs. The courtyard of the house is defined by a longitudinal terrace running over the full length of the building. The house has a white linoleum floor, white interior walls and a mustard yellow ceiling.
The main elevation is composed like a grid with exposed rooms. While the models walk from room to room the grid is displayed with heterogeneity of looks and characters like a display cabinet. Every character wears a unique outfit and gives the house an always new definition. The building becomes the temporary home to a cross section of an envisioned female society in the Autumn/Winter of 2011. And yet it shall symbolize that home is the sweetest place on earth and that new ways of life can take place in that protected place.
