To launch Prada’s new fragrance, Miuccia Prada asked film director Ridley Scott and his daughter Jordan Scott to collaborate with her on the project. In response to Miuccia Prada’s desire to portray the complexities of being a woman, Jordan presented Prada with a poem, “Thunder Perfect Mind” from the First century that deals with the endless aspects of the female psyche.
The film was shot in Berlin and stars Daria Werbowy as the woman who appears in many guises; the wife, the virgin, the mother, the daughter, the mistress. Jordan Scott reflected on the filming in Berlin, “It was an extraordinary experience to collaborate with two of the ultimate creative minds in their fields, and of course when one of them is your dad it makes it all the more special.”
Jordan & Ridley were excited to work with French Director of Photography Philippe Le Sourd.
The costumes, especially designed by Miuccia Prada, were styled by Kym Barrett of Matrix & Romeo & Juliet fame.
Tom Foden who has worked with both Ridley & Jordan in the past came on board as Production Designer.
The choreographer for the film was Blanca Li.
Ridley Scott commented on the experience, ”I seemed to be surrounded by strong women…I just did as I was told…this project is an essay on women by women.”
The film premiered at the Berlin Film Festival on 13 February, 2005.
