Prada Qixi 2023
Prada celebrates the Qixi Festival this year with a special collection of looks for the occasion, plus a range of gift ideas including bags, accessories, and jewelry.
The women’s offering features a sophisticated take on maritime style, including natté pea coats that gleam with golden buttons and bouclé fabrics in classic navy blue, white, and beige. These designs are paired with formal heeled loafers or brand-new, delicately styled Mary Janes, and complemented by leather bags, including the Prada Arqué, in neutral colours. In addition to leather options, iconic combinations of Re-nylon with Spazzolato leather debut as accessories for Qixi. Like all the leather goods, hair accessories are ideal gift ideas, as are the Symbole sunglasses in the new tortoiseshell version.
The men’s selection focuses on velvet denim and natural, talc and sky-blue tones, with dashes of clay grey and iron grey, while brushed leather shoes and minimalist yet innovative sneakers are either pure black or white. The new Saffiano leather travel bag is a highlight, available in black or marble grey, matching the hats and belts.
Alongside this special selection, Prada presents a series of images and a video dedicated to Chinese Valentine’s Day, starring the actor and singer Tan Jianci, whose major projects include Under the Skin by Xing Jianjun and Lost You Forever directed by Qin Zhen and Yang Huan, as well as model Li Wen.
The founding myth of the traditional Festival is recalled in delicate, yet intense images presented in beautiful layers. A man and a woman are far apart yet share an inner bond. A constant interaction between background and foreground and the fluid fading and dissolving of images ultimately bring the two people together in a single location and frame.
