For its first collaboration with the world of race and aerobatic flight, Prada with Dario Costa, a professional aviator, stunt, and athlete, the first and only Italian to compete and win in the Red Bull Air Race World Championship competition, created a custom-made pilot suit.
This garment combines the know-how of Prada Linea Rossa, which has always combined fashion and high technical performance, with the long as well as consolidated experience of Dario, holder of several records and distinctions that have changed the history of modern aviation. The result is a modern suit in which sophistication and technicality are united to create a unique look.
Research and experimentation with innovative fabrics, along with technical details, distinguish this partnership. To meet the pilot's needs, this suit is made with fabrics featuring Nomex technology, characterised by highly flame-resistant fibres and elastic fabrics. They are matched with knitted yarns that create breathable stretch meshes to enhance the athlete's movements and performance. The cuts on the suit are both decorative and functional at the same time, as they facilitate movement. Prada has redesigned the protective parts for elbows and knees in an anatomical manner, made of a special synthetic fibre of exceptional strength, to offer comparable strength to steel during torsion and bending manoeuvres.
